					<description><![CDATA[I came across this as a result of a search for &#034;Hans Baerwald and Hans Straus connection&#034;. Hans Alexander Straus (d. 1977?) was grandfather of my friend, Jessica Straus. Her father was Thomas Straus, who died last year at 94. Hans wrote an unpulblished memoir and Tom added to it. Jessica&#039;s uncle Uli, was the older brother of Tom. There is a shared family history between the Baerwald and Straus families that we are now researching.]]></description>

Thanks for letting me know. Do you have a particular interest in Japan or in this area? A year or so ago, I was contacted by the grandson of the man Strauss helped bring to Japan. The grandson sent me pictures of the beautiful carpets his grandfather wove, many of which may have been woven while he was living in Japan.]]></description>
