John Mears and Charles Collyer were on the tail end of a round-the-world trip in June 1928 on a record-breaking trip (faster than the moon!) flying from Russia to Manchuria to Korea and then to Osaka and Yokohama. In Yokohama, a Helm Brothers crane was used to load the plane onto the deck of the ship “Empress of Russia” which took the plane on the next leg of the trip to Canada.10393840_299948996837206_4730841197041635716_n
